Networking can not be an exception in today's dynamic world. There is so much to put up for the public eye and ear, each day in terms of awareness, education, just helpful information etc. Things are happening everyday. Versatility (in both print and broadcast) and availability, reliability, willingness, determination, promptness etc need to be elements that are not taken for granted by anyone purporting to be a journalist or anyone wanting to be a journalist."
There is a myth that journalists love the limelight, the front-row seat on history and the front-page byline or 30-second "on camera" time, and also that the best of them are obsessively curious about their fellow human beings, politics, science, natural disasters, technology, sports, you name it.
As columnist Anna Quindlen puts it, "Being a reporter is as much a diagnosis as a job description."
One can certainly put themselves in the limelight by networking.
